This Ford Diesel is
available in HP ratings from 165 to 270 HP. These are Non Sleeved engines
and as such they must have the cylinders bored and honed to oversize
pistons If the cylinder walls are cracked or have
caviation
holes the block can be fitted with cylinder repair sleeves and then
re-bored.
These engines are very prone to
piston detonation when this occurs cylinder always has a gouge at the
top piston ring area from the broken rings wearing into the block.
The cause of this is either a bad injector nozzle's) or excessive
Blow by which causes
engine oil vapors to burn in the cylinder raising combustion temps until
the piston melts
.When
we Remanufacture one of these engines we replace the with a Hard Capped
and Coated Piston. Which has a cast iron Top Piston ring land which
prevents any detonation from burning thru the piston. This piston also has
a RE-ENTRANT style combustion bowl for a cleaner burning engine. Turn around time approx 8-10 Days
