6.5 Electronic Turbo Diesel Vacuum System

The waste gate on the 6.5 electronic Turbo Diesel is vacuum controlled.
Most of these engines that we have done have either a broken vacuum feed line from the vacuum pump to the waste gate solenoid or from the solenoid to the turbo waste gate. At idle RPM the vacuum should be 21-25". Check the vacuum at the vacuum pump also. If Vacuum is low you must replace the vacuum pump. If this engine computer does not see boost pressure because the waste gate is open it cuts the fuel delivery back severely.

Another problem area is the Waste gate lever bushing on the turbo becomes
very worn this also causes the turbo boost to be low. The boost on these engines
starts a 6# at first acceleration and then immediately drops to 4# or less.
